Best 9 Things To Do In Charleston

How It Happened

One of the most exciting trips I have been on so far in my lifetime has to be my new home, Charleston South Carolina! So I had only visited South Carolina one time before deciding to relocate here. (Crazy? Yolo) My husband and I decided that there was no time like the present to make a drastic move cross country. Anywho, let me get into the details of what made this state so dreamy. We also traveled to Georgia and Florida while on our trip, I’ll talk about those two states in another blog. The East Coast really is just something so beautiful and different compared to the West Coast.

1.

Our first stop on our trip the day after we landed was Downtown Charleston. We are both caffeine fanatics, so of course we stopped off at one of the corner coffee shops that is within walking distance of everything downtown, Bakehouse Charleston. If you’re looking for a coffee shop with tons of space to sit on your laptop, this is your spot. Charleston is one of those cities where you’ll seriously never be bored. There are constant events going on and so many different types of restaurants and historic landmarks to visit, that you’ll never find yourself running out of things to do.

2.

After the much-needed caffeine fix, we strolled down to the famous Pineapple Fountain, apparently, it has been there since 1990. I found it extremely fascinating to stroll through neighborhoods with historic housing. There is something about the unique landscape of an authentic Charleston house, the architecture is truly stunning. After walking it was time to find something delicious but healthy to eat.

3.

Fleet Landing right on the edge of downtown Charleston was what caught our eye. It was directly on the beautiful water of the coast. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and of course, it was delicious. I also got hooked on a new soup I had never had before, She-Crab. I am a soup enthusiast and I had never heard of she-crab before, because it’s an East Coast soup! If you’re looking for a restaurant right on the water that isn’t going to break the bank, this is a great option. Another restaurant located downtown that easily became another one of our favorites was High Cotton.

4.

Let’s talk about the shopping scene on King Street in Charleston. Shopping malls are pretty scarce out here, but the amount of mom-and-pop shops and name-brand stores is wonderful. Every 2nd Sunday of every month King Street is open to vendors of pop-ups for a fun shopping experience! This trip got me hooked on permanent jewelry as well.
